Cloned “look alike” Bridesmaids

Brides, don’t insist on making your bridesmaids look like clones. No more “cookie cutter” outfits.

The practice started with weddings in ancient Rome, which required the presence of 10 witnesses, who dressed like the bride and groom in order to ward off evil spirits. If the spirits couldn’t figure out who the bride and groom were, they couldn’t inflict evil on them. Very clever, ancient Romans. 😉

WEDBridemaidsDressesEvery good friend knows that along with the honor of being a bridesmaid comes the obligation to wear a dress in a color and style that’s not of her choosing. So your girls accept that, but it doesn’t mean they’ll submit happily if you force them to wear identical shoes, jewelry, wraps, and hairstyles.

In order to have a great time at your wedding, your bridesmaids need to feel attractive too – something that’s impossible if you’ve micromanaged their looks down to the lipstick hue. Plus, buying a bunch of matching accessories they may never wear again gets expensive. Not to worry… YOU will still be the main attraction! Why not select a dresses they can actually wear again without altering?

Your bridesmaids will look even better if you give them leeway to let their individual styles shine through the blush-colored chiffon gowns you’ve dressed them in. Even if the dresses are all completely different, you can still have a preview to determine who should stand next to who in order to create balance. Their look should compliment their body type. Same color, different styles and lengths is another idea. Let them choose their hair and makeup styles; give them more than one option with accessories like shoes, jewelry, and cover-ups.

It’s a near-impossible feat to find ONE dress (or even one color) that three or four or 10 girls (who are different colors and shapes and size) are ALL going to feel great in. So why not make it easier on everyone and let them all wear WHATEVER, and trust that your friends have good taste? Your “Bridal Brigade” should have the freedom to choose within your guidelines. Of course you have the final say; you are, after all, “the bride.”

Should your bridesmaids wear the same dress? No, just similar enough to be a little of the same but individual enough to compliment each girl.

Perhaps it is finally time to ditch tradition of the matchy-matchy bridesmaid dresses! What say you?

Top 10 Common Dieting Mistakes Every Bride-to-be Makes

Rachel Morgan, Guest Author

Mistake 1 – Skipping breakfast ~ By skipping this important meal, you will be hungrier for the rest of the day. A decent breakfast will kick start your metabolism right from the word go!

Mistake 2 – Not eating enough protein ~ Protein will fill you up for longer, try chicken or fish for your lunch time meal and keep hunger at bay all day.

WedDietingMistakesMistake 3 – Getting your portion size wrong ~ Try eating off a smaller plate and filling it instead of filling a large plate. Eat slowly and enjoy every mouthful. That way, you will feel more satisfied.

Mistake 4 – Losing track of what you’ve eaten ~ Absent-mindedly snacking throughout the day can put a full stop to your slimming. Record everything, keep a food diary. Have snacks, just remember to include them in your calorie allowance.

Mistake 5 – Not drinking enough ~ Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Green tea will help fill you up and will help to speed up your metabolism.

Mistake 6 – Setting unrealistic goals ~ Dieting mistakes don’t come much bigger than being unrealistic about the amount of weight you’re going to lose. Don’t buy a wedding dress three sizes too small in the hope that you will fit into it. Set an achievable weight goal and try your best to get to that.

Mistake 7 – Repeating old diet habits ~ Break the routine of old dieting habits that haven’t worked. Don’t start on a Monday, start on a Friday. You’re much more likely to succeed as you will have done the hardest part first and stayed strong throughout the weekend – weekdays will be much easier.

Mistake 8 – Starving yourself ~ Don’t starve yourself because you’ll end up binge eating. Try to eat a handful of fruit when you get hungry – it’ll keep you going and stop cravings.

Mistake 9 – Hiding the scales ~ Don’t be scared of the scales. Get weighed regularly so you can see little loses, which will motivate you to continue.

Mistake 10 – Going it alone ~ Don’t try to lose weight on your own. More people are successful when they get the support of friends and loved ones. Ask a bridesmaid, your mum or your h2b to train and exercise with you and you’ll find the whole process a lot easier.

7 Simple Slimming Tips for Your Wedding!

Rachel Morgan, Guest Author

1. Take a before photo of yourself upon starting your challenge and stick this on your fridge. Every time you open the fridge take a look and remember why you put that there. Just think about that perfect dress and the day and that will help keep you motivated.

WEDSlimmingTIPS2. Try porridge for breakfast or lunch. Not only can you get some great tasting flavours, this will keep you fuller for longer. All of the foods used in the plan can be purchased from your local supermarket – no expensive health foods here!

3. Eat slowly and try to enjoy every mouthful. When you concentrate on the food you’re eating, the flavour and enjoyment will be so much more intense, you will find yourself more full and satisfied.

4. Invest in some digital scales to see small weight losses, which will help keep you in the slimming zone. Also, try to diet with a friend to help keep you motivated. It will also help to fill in the personalised daily diary that comes with the plan. This way you can track what you’re eating on every day of the 12 weeks.

5. If you fancy the occasional glass of wine, go for a dry white, which has fewer calories. Mix it with diet lemonade to make it last longer. The diet plan also includes lots of other top tips and motivational advice, so check it out!

6. Want a quick low-calorie meal? Try a Prawn or Chicken Stir fry. Replace the noodles for extra vegetables. Proteins like chicken and prawns will help keep you full up through-out the day. The Wedding Dress Diet Plan includes a handy 7-day meal planner so you can pre-plan all the protein for the week and quick and easy recipes even the busiest bride-to-be can try.

7. Try Lindt “dark” chocolate for an intense chocolate hit at only 40 calories approx per square. One square is enough for a sweet tooth and it will stop you reaching for the whole bar.

The Seven Year Itch Explained

Filed under: Wedding Tips — Larry James @ 7:30 am

The seven year itch is the psychological theory that happiness in couples starts to deteriorate after seven years together, increasing the chances of a break-up. It is the point when you have been together so long that you are tired and/or bored with your partner, but you have not been together long enough to have accepted the rhythm that is being in a relationship. Some people miss being single and would like a different partner. Other people just miss the freedom of being single and having no strings attached but they do not want another partner. It is a “rough” patch in a relationship and supposedly comes in the seventh year of marriage.

WED7YearItchThis phase is a very trying time, which could either make or break a relationship. I, for one, realize that relationship issues do occur, however I believe that the seven year itch is a myth made popular in 1955 when Marilyn Monroe starred in a movie of the same name. Psychologists and therapists say the concept of the seven-year itch, popularly thought to be a stage in the seventh year of marriage characterized by unsettled feelings and the urge to have an affair or leave the marriage, is part truth, part myth. When you really love each other there are many things you can do to move forward together. When all amateur moves have failed, it may be advisable for you to visit a relationship coach.

Vivian Diller, on The Seven Year Itch: Clearly, there are many factors that contribute to a couple’s growing dissatisfaction during the early phase of a relationship. To reduce it to the loss of attractiveness is obviously too simplistic. These first seven years are often filled with starting families, building careers and firming the marital foundation.

Young couples have a lot on their minds. But they cannot dismiss the role that feeling attracted to one another plays in the success of their long term relationship. The key is incorporating this awareness into everything else that we know about how couples succeed, or don’t, in today’s culture.

Should Married Couples Merge Finances or Keep Them Separate?

Tags: , , , ,

“Though separate finances have worked for our marriage for nearly 20 years, most people prefer to merge their money when they marry. Some couples keep a single joint account where they put all their money. Others have a seldom-used joint savings account for certain needs but otherwise maintain complete financial autonomy. Most couples fall somewhere in the middle. There’s no one right way to do this; each relationship is different, so the correct choice is the one that works best for you and your partner.

MERGEFinances• If you and your partner make roughly the same amount, you could contribute equally to the joint account, and then keep what’s left over in your personal accounts.
• If one partner makes significantly more than the other, she could fund the joint account entirely on her own and keep the remainder in her personal account. Her husband could simply keep his own income in his personal account to do with as he wishes.
• Some couples use a proportional system: If one partner earns two-thirds of the household income, say, he contributes two-thirds of the joint account. After funding the joint account, the partners can do whatever they want with the leftovers.
• A final option is to use the “adult allowance” system. In this case, both spouses put their entire paycheck into the joint account, and then withdraw a fixed amount into their personal accounts every month.” ~ J.D. Roth
